Companionship
- Falls
- Unsafe physical exertion
- Emotional strain
- Unnecessary stressors
- Minimizing anxiety
- Unstable mobility
Companions ensure all appropriate measures are taken in order to ensure optimum safety and emotional health while maintaining a healthy companion/client social relationship.
Social Engagement
- Lower the risk of developing Alzheimer’s: individuals who lack social interaction are at much higher risk for developing Alzheimer’s later in life.
- Aid individuals suffering from dementia: socialization can make this condition more manageable, sometimes slowing the progression of dementia, enabling individuals to retain cognitive functions.
- Increase a sense of self worth: many individuals struggling with cognitive impairment feel isolated. This isolation can lead to anxiety, depression, and a decreased sense of self-confidence. Companion social engagement can assist individuals in regaining a sense of self-worth, improve eating habits, support exercise routines, and retaining self-confidence in knowing that a companion friend is there to truly care for them, assisting every step of the way. It is the utmost priority of every companion to truly knowing those whom they serve, continuously engaging and enhancing the lives of individuals via:
- Basic companionship
- Stimulating conversation
- Maintaining social connections to family, friends, and community
- Reading aloud
- Engaging in physical exercise and walks
- Working on crossword puzzles
- Partaking in social outings and religious events
- Maintaining a safe, healthy, disruptive lifestyle by all appropriate means in keeping with individual needs and preferences.

Medication Management
Medication lists and dosages can be overwhelming and mistakes can be harmful. While companions cannot physically administer medication, they are able to read care plans, reconcile medication lists in accordance with prescription orders, oversee and assist with ordering medications and refills, identify discrepancies, and oversee and suggest pill organization methods, ensuring medication is taken as prescribed and at the appropriate times.
Tranquility companions collaborate with a certified nurse practitioner who is available to order medications and offer telehealth appointments as is appropriate. Companions partner with the nurse practitioner to ensure adherence to prescription guidelines and care plans in order to maintain appropriate medication management. All medications must be prescribed and managed by the nurse practitioner or client physician.
